Frequently Asked Questions
Before you ask — here’s the deal:
I believe questions deserve real answers — not therapy buzzwords or vague bullshit. If you’re investing your time, energy, & money into therapy, you deserve to know exactly what you’re signing up for. Let’s get into it.
Where are sessions held? Are they in-person or virtual?
All sessions are virtual only. I use Zoom, which is a HIPAA-compliant platform so you can heal from wherever feels safest to you — your couch, your office, your parked car — as long as you're physically in Florida.
How much do sessions cost?
Standard therapy sessions: $175 for 53 minutes; I do offer reduced fees on a limited basis. You are welcome to inquire about this during your chemistry call.
EMDR intensives: Varies based on length & goals — prices are outlined on the EMDR Intensives page here.
Do you accept insurance?
Sure do. You can find a list of insurances I am in-network with by clicking here.
If I am out of network with your insurance, I can send you a form to use when contacting your insurance; I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. I cannot make any guarantees because insurance companies are a pain in the ass.
Is therapy private?
Absolutely, therapy is confidential. Exceptions are rare but legally required: if you’re a danger to yourself, someone else, or if there’s child/elder abuse happening. Otherwise, what we talk about stays between us.
What’s therapy like with you?
It’s not a never-ending cycle of “how does that make you feel” with no real progress. You’ll get someone who’s in your corner & willing to call you on your shit (with a lot of care, but still — I won’t sugarcoat it). Expect direct feedback, real conversations, & real results — because healing isn’t supposed to feel like treading water.
What’s your cancellation policy?
I have a strict 48-hour cancellation policy; clients must cancel any sessions they cannot attend by logging into the client portal & cancelling the session directly. The late-cancellation fee is $100, & the no-show fee is $115. I apply this policy universally because I’m a therapist, not a judge. I don’t want to have to decide who & under what circumstances a fee may be worthy of being waived. No exceptions, no bullshit.
I’m new to therapy. What should I expect?
Expect to be seen, heard, challenged, & supported.
Our first few sessions are about building trust & figuring out exactly where you want to go. You don’t have to tell me your whole life story on Day 1 — we’ll pace it based on what feels right for you.
How does teletherapy work?
You’ll get a secure link for every session.
At your scheduled time, click the link, settle somewhere private, & we get started. Bring a stable internet connection, privacy, & an open mind.
I’m currently in another state or country. Can I still schedule a session?
Only if you’re physically located in Florida at the time of the session.
It doesn’t matter where you live permanently — licensing laws are strict as hell. If you’re outside Florida during your appointment time, we have to reschedule; if we start a session & that is when you mention that you are not in Florida, a late cancellation fee will be charged.
How long is each session?
Weekly therapy: 53-60 minutes. Self-pay clients have the option of scheduling 90-minute sessions, which will be charged on a prorated basis.
EMDR intensives: Typically 90 minutes to 3 hours, depending on the structure we set up.
Are you really as up-front & no-bullshit as your website makes you look?
100%.. I believe therapy should be the realest relationship you have — not another place you feel like you have to censor yourself. If you need real talk wrapped in genuine compassion, you’ll feel right at home here.
Why is the homepage video a bunch of women giving the middle finger?
Because healing isn’t just quiet sobs & yoga retreats. Sometimes healing looks like rage, resistance, & reclaiming your damn life. That video is a tribute to every person who ever got told to "just get over it" — & decided to fight back instead.
Additional questions specific to trauma work & EMDR:
What is EMDR & how does it work?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) helps your brain reprocess traumatic memories so they don’t keep fucking up your present.
It’s not hypnosis. You stay in control the entire time. We’ll target stuck memories, desensitize the emotional pain attached to them, & install more empowering, grounded beliefs. (Yes, it’s science-backed. Yes, it works.)
Do I have to talk about every detail of my trauma for EMDR to work?
Nope. One of the badass things about EMDR is that you don’t have to rehash every horrible detail. You can share as much or as little as you want — the work still gets done. You are always in charge of what you share.
Is EMDR safe?
Yes — when done with a properly trained therapist (hi, that’s me). That said, EMDR can feel intense sometimes. We’ll make sure you have solid coping strategies in place before we dive into any deep work. I’m not here to rip you open & leave you bleeding — I’m here to guide you through healing in a way that’s powerful & safe.
Can EMDR be done virtually?
Absolutely! I’ve been doing EMDR virtually for years. I use tools that allow us to recreate the bilateral stimulation (BLS) you’d get in an office — safely, effectively, & without needing any fancy tech.
What kinds of trauma do you specialize in?
I work with a wide range, including:
Survivors of mass shootings & gun violence
Adult survivors of child sexual abuse & sexual trauma
First responders
Cyclebreakers (breaking generational trauma patterns)
Bariatric patients navigating body image & trauma
Panic attacks, phobias, & anxiety linked to trauma
If you’ve been through hell, you’re not “too much” for me. Bring it.
I’ve tried therapy before & it didn’t work. Why would this be different?
Because we’re not bullshitting here. If therapy didn’t work for you before, it might’ve been because you didn’t have the right therapist — or you didn’t get the right tools. I’m here to actually do something about the pain, not just sit in it forever. We’ll customize your healing — & if something’s not working, we’ll pivot, not pretend.
